Asked

Is CCTV footage of my client being assaulted at a custody centre material discoverable under Freedom of Information?

Answered

While the CCTV may be requested under Freedom of Information it can be difficult to obtain CCTV footage from correctional facilities. CCTV footage is often claimed to be exempt because release of the footage would or would be likely to prejudice the administration and management of prisoners and disclose police and custody officer’s methods and procedures.
